| The
Nigardsbreen Glacier
is without doubt the most spactacular
glacier in Norway. And what is even better:
it is also the most easily accessable!
And everything is done to secure that
you can have a exciting, thrilling, and
absolutely safe hike on the ice. The formations
are breathtaking and even scaring, but
you know you are guided and looked after
by some of most experienced and best trained
mountain guides there are.
The Jostedalen
Glacier Guides are all professionals,
with international
sertificates as instructors and guides,
and they all have training from expeditions
both in Norway and abroad.
The tickets for the
hikes you buy at the Breheimsenteret.
You will get the information you need
about hoe the proceedings are, so listen
to what the staff tell you. That will
save you questions later. Detailed information
about the hikes are found HERE
It can also be smart and interesting to
go through the museum. You will be well
prepared, and able to surprise your fellow
hikers, if you learn a few things about
the glacer.
It is important to
find out what kind of a glacier hike you
want.
For example, if you have kids under the
age of 12 years, you have yo go for the
FAMILY
WALK . And younger children than 6-year
old cannot go on a glacier hike. You will
not be allowed to carry children on your
back.
I everyone are over
the age of 12, you have two other options.
Both of them involve more professional
equipment, like ice axe, crampons and
harnesses. All of this is provided and
included in the price.
The two options are
the SHORT
BLUE ICE WALK and the BLUE
ICE WALK. Quite similar, but one is
a bit longer and also takes you into more
wild formations. But both are suitable
for the average fit person. You do not
have to be an athlete!
All
of these hikes are back in time for
the bus.
