RIVERPIG Glacier Rafting, Norway

The River Pig (or 'Elvepurka' in Norwegian) is a mythical creature that lives in the wild glacier river which runs through the spectacular Jostedalen Valley. The image of this old, angry, child eating female pig has been used by the parents in the valley to scare the children away from the dangers of the river for hundreds of years, right up to the present day.

But now we have a chance to visit Elvepurka - in her territory! Do you have the heart to raft the white water, to brave the glacial chill, to come face to face with ELVEPURKA?

After surviving your meeting with Elvepurka, why not try a kayaking and glacier walking trip with ICETROLL and join the 'Stiff Nipple Triple' club! Discounts do apply. Click on the naked Purka behind the Stiff Nipple Triple trough for more info!

ICETROLL glacier lake kayaking

offer kayaking tours on remote glacier lakes in Jostedalen, on the eastern side of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier.
The tours, designed for any ability, range from day trips to multi-day, multi-activity tours incorporating kayaking, mountain hiking and glacier walking. Each tour is flexible with every effort made to ensure you have an experience befitting this most amazing world of glaciers.
Austdalsbreen (glacier), with a 25 metre high terminal, descends into the lake from the Jostedalsbreen Icecap. Massive towers of ice calving into the water will top the day after paddling around icebergs to get to this most remote and untouched area.

ICETROLL welcome anybody with a desire for the outdoors. There are no limits on age or fitness, or on individuals or groups. The tours vary in time and distance to suit your demands. Whether your focus on these tours is environmental, informative, scenic or just plain physical, we aim to fulfil your expectations.

See the Iceroll website for details and lots of pictures
