Avalanches can be very dangerous.
And there is no other way to protect
oneself than to be very careful
and cautious.
You can tell by experience and
knowledge when and where the risk
increases. But you can never tell
excactly when it happens.
And the power of the snow is enormous
- houses and cars are blown to pieces
if they are in the wrong place.
Last winter we have had quite
a few avalanches in Jostedalen.
